For this assignment I needed to create a Type Specimen Poster. The goal of the poster was to promote the Futura typeface by representing its history and effectively demonstrating it’s characteristics. 

I began this project by researching the Futura typeface and exploring how to incorporate the history into the style of the poster. I started sketching out different layouts and visualizing how to represent the typeface by showcasing the different letter forms and weights. I wanted to display the font variations in a way that was easy to reference and a quick comparison for the viewer. I incorporated the name of the designer and some of the history into the design as well. I chose the primary colors and geometric shapes to represent the Bauhaus movement from which the Futura typeface was born. I finished this piece by adding a texture in the background and a couple paragraphs of information to tie everything together.
