This assignment was for a four-page layout for an article about forest elephants in Gabon, a remote area of Central Africa. 

My first priority for this was to create a visually engaging front page to persuade the reader to open the magazine and explore the article about the elephants in Gabon. In an effort to draw the reader into the article I added some additional pictures with captions to hold their attention. I also included a pull quote that played off the headline on the cover. I chose a simple three-column layout for all pages to organize the information and maintain consistency and readability. Once I had the information and images laid out I went back in and designed the pull quote and added captions to match the style and feel of the article. I also added a drop cap for some additional visual interest.
